Hey there, magical mamas! Halloween is right around the corner, and if you’re anything like me, you’re already dreaming up some spooky yet fun decorations! But let’s be real – with kids and busy schedules, we need easy halloween decor! The simpler and quicker the DIY, the better! So, I’ve got just the thing for you: a super easy, totally fun floating witch hat and broom tutorial that will transform your front porch, or even your home, into a magical and spooky witch’s lair with minimal effort!
What You’ll Need:
1 – Black witch hats (I used these ones)
2 – Lightweight witch brooms (I used these ones)
3 – Fishing line or clear thread
4 – Command hooks or push pins (I used these ones)
A needle and a ladder or step stool!
Extras:
- A spooky skeleton
- Spiders + cobwebs
- Candles
Let’s Get Crafty!
Step 1: Prep Your Hats First, grab your witch hats. Attach a piece of fishing line or clear thread to the top of each hat. Ensure the length of the line allows the hats to hang at different heights for a more whimsical look!
Step 2: Hang the Hats Using Command hooks or push pins, hang the fishing line from the ceiling. Stagger them at various heights to create the illusion that the hats are floating in mid-air. This is where the magic happens, and trust me, your kids will be absolutely enchanted!
Step 3: Prep Your Brooms Take your lightweight witch brooms and attach a piece of fishing line or clear thread to the handle, near the bristle end. Make sure the length of the line will allow the brooms to hang at a height that looks like they’re ready to fly off on their own spooky adventures.
Step 4: Hang the Brooms Just like with the witch hats, use Command hooks or push pins to hang the fishing line from the ceiling. Stagger the heights of the brooms to create a dynamic and eerie floating effect. Now, your witch hats and brooms look like they’ve come to life, ready for a Halloween night flight!
Step 5: Final Touches To complete the look, consider adding some cobwebs, string lights, candles, or even some dangling spiders around your floating decorations! We have a swinging egg chair on our front porch, so I added a 5ft spooky skeleton, a cute SPOOKY pillow, and wrapped a humongous furry spider on top! This will enhance the spooky atmosphere and make your display even more captivating!
Oh – and OF COURSE mums and pumpkins. Because what halloween house is complete without those?! And again, super easy but magical Halloween decor, woo!
